News from Fiji – April 2020

We are all well and no has been infected with the virus, yet!  The pasvali community is looking good with its new members….it’s alive and thriving with community life.  Their vegetable garden is looking good too with the new impetus of energy coming from Sowani and Manu.  With Sowani and Manu —they now have daily mass and a structured community prayer life. #PraiseGod

As for today there are 14 confirm cases ( we suspect the number may have doubled/tripled  since GOVT is trying its best to round the families of those who have been firstly infected—and it hasnt been easy and as a result we have lots of problems ahead of us.  We are trying our best to  prax social distancing !)

As for now

Lautoka City—Lockdown        (unlocking tommorow Tues 7th April 2020 after 14days)

Soso, Labasa Lockdown        (lockingdown 14days)

Suva Lockdown                (3days into lockdown out of 14days)

Taveuni Lockdown            (lockeddown 14days)

Since the Virus has reached Suva—we are now quarantined and that means those outside Suva like Natovi Nausori and Lami cant come to us.   Its a blessing in disguise to have Alan Finn in Natovi this crucial times in Suva!  And we have shut ourselves from the outside world.  Within Suva, essential services are still open e,g banks, post offices , supermakets, hospitals, pharmacy etc.

Simon, Visesio, Michael and Waisale are full time prs students and are  all continuing if online classes and I also lecture from my Wailoku office.  Today is first experience of disconnection day since we have had landslide hence disconnecting us from the main electricity grid.  It will get better!

All our layworkers are still working since Wailoku has been free-from-from -the virus.  For how long? We dont know?  Lusia and Tina live down the valley of Wailoku are both ok!

For nowwe have Cyclone Harold to worry about, and its expected landfall wed/thursday!  Our prayers for the innocent lives who perished at the Solomon Islands, all victims of Cyclone Harold .  These Victims, approx 27of them—some from Fr Vincents Village.  Padre Vincent left his island home today for Red Beach Honiara. Our prayers for his loss.  Vanuatu is probably getting a wrath of Harold as I penned this email.

Please pass on our lolomas and prayers to all our conferers from Straya, PNG and Solomon Islands !

Moce and Blessings….attach are pix around the Formation House

++e-power has come back approx 8,15pm #thank God.  Our online lectures continues thence in the morning!
