Vincentians on Mission

The mission of the Vincentians is to be and to bring Good News to people as they go about their ordinary lives.

St Vincent de Paul “found Christ where he least expected: on the edge, the ‘outer limits’ of life.” His pivotal ministry experiences led Vincent to recognize Christ in the poor. Once he entered the world of the poor, they transformed his life.

As followers of Vincent we are challenged to do the same.

The first Vincentians arrived in Australia from Ireland in 1885 and now carry out their ministry in a variety of places in Australia and the Pacific. There are Vincentians of the Oceania Province working in the following areas:

Parish Ministry at St Vincent’s Ashfield, NSW;  St Anthony’s Marsfield, NSW; St Joseph’s, Malvern, Vic.;  Sacred Heart Cathedral and Holy Family Parishes Mission in Townsville, Qld;  St John the Apostle, Natovi, Fiji;  St Vincent de Paul, Nausori., Fiji.

Care of the Aged at Freeman Village, Ashfield; Bethany Hostel, Marsfield, NSW and within our normal Parish operations.
